The ten point differential is no indication of how close this game was played. After a back-and-forth opening three quarters, Forest Hills Eastern used a big fourth quarter to defeat Hopkins, 57-47 in the Cornerstone High School Holiday Tournament on Wednesday evening. Hopkins falls to 4-1 on the season while Eastern is now 2-3.
Hopkins jumped out to 14-11 lead at the end of the first but missed some key free throws and open jump shots. Otherwise they would have extended the lead. At the half it was 25-22 with Hopkins still maintaining control of the game. But Forest Hllls Eastern came out and started the 3rd quarter with a break away dunk by Tyler Mitchell which energized the team on both ends of the court. The game was tied 35-35 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The fourth quarter was back and forth with the Hawks Solomon White coming up big with a couple of 3 pointers. The Hopkins full court press was no match for the Hawks as they beat it easily and converted on some easy lay ups. The Vikings went cold the last 3 minutes of the game and Forest Hills Eastern pulled away and outscored the Vikings 22 to 12 in the 4th quarter.
