Class B North Dakota Games to Watch
The Holidays are quickly approaching and with it, tournaments and events. That means a lot of good matchups between a number of quality teams will ensue over the next few weeks. The cream is quickly rising to the top while some teams are still figuring things out.
Here are some games to watch this week:
Four Winds/Minnewauken vs. Dunseith – Tuesday, Dec. 18
Four Winds looks like perhaps the best team in Class B early in the season as the Indians have wins over three teams that are traditionally among the best in the state in Beulah, Oak Grove and Grafton. Dunseith is a fringe top-10 team and won two games in the CNDC Tournament. Both teams are clearly challenging themselves with the schedule especially early in the season and this is one that could go a long ways for both the winner and loser.
St. John vs. Cavalier – Tuesday, Dec. 18
St. John is 2-2 on the young season, suffering two losses in the CNDC Tournament but also sporting wins in which they’d scored more than 95 points. There’s a lot of turnover but offense hasn’t been an issue as the Woodchucks have Adam Jollie, Zach Anderson and Tyreece Gunville all averaging better than 12 points per game. Cavalier is undefeated on the young season and hoping to contend in Region 2 this winter. This is a litmus test type game for the Tornadoes.
Carrington at Thompson – Thursday, Dec. 20
Carrington has a busy week as it also squares off with Beulah Saturday in Jamestown. But first, it gets Thompson, one of the top five or so teams in Class B. Seth Nelson is one of the top juniors in the state while the inside duo of Hayden Overby and Chance Danner is as good as it gets for the Tommies.
