Norm Stewart Classic Preview
The annual Norm Stewart Classic kicks off Friday. Mizzou legend and Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Norm Stewart, in conjunction with the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association and the American Cancer Society has put together its’ annual 24 game, 48 team, 48 hour high school basketball marathon featuring teams from across the states of Missouri and Illinois. The schedule features highly rated teams and prospects in both the boys and girls ranks. The games kick off at 6pm Friday and run non-stop through 6pm Sunday at Columbia College. With this event comes national and regional exposure as it will be streamed on ESPN3 as well as regional networks all throughout the state of Missouri.
This special event was put together in honor of Coach Stewart, who fought and beat colon cancer in 1989 and returned to the sidelines the next season. Not only will proceeds be donated towards the fight against cancer but new to this year all 48 teams participating will present checks to Coaches vs Cancer. This is a special event, for a special cause, with loads of special talent all in the same gym. Prep Hoops will be on site providing coverage throughout the weekend. Here is the schedule for all 24 games as well as some (but certainly not all) of the prospects on the boys side to keep an eye on in this LOADED field!
