Top 250 Expo (Class of 2021 Point Guards)
Here are the Class of 2021 point guards from the Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo in St. Louis:
Ilyaas Harris 5’9″ Marquette: An excellent pass-first point guard who played well at both ends of the court. He has nice handles and the ability to get into the lane, but he also displayed a much improved 3-point stroke during the event. On defense, he is a ball hawk who can make an opposing guard very uncomfortable.
Brennan Watkins 5’9″ Kearney: A very impressive young player who I had a chance to see for the first time. His ball handling skills were excellent and he can really shoot it from 3-point range. He is a very confident offensive player and he wasn’t afraid to get after you on the defensive end.
Gary Ford, Jr. 5’8″ Webster Groves: A very nice floor leader who does a nice job of handling the ball and setting the tempo for his team. He gets the ball to his teammates in the right spots and he can knock down an open 3-pointer. He is also a solid defensive player.
Kyle Conkright 5’10” Ellington: A solid young point guard who has the ability to handle the ball and make shots from 3-point range. He can also make a few moves off the dribble to create space and get a shot on his own.
T.J. Sorgenfrei 5’9″ Nixa: He had a very productive day as he showed that he can play with the ball or off the ball. He was in constant motion and he made himself available to get buckets off his good cuts. He was also a good 3-point shooter off the catch. He knows how to play.
Simon Murray 5’10” Lee’s Summit North: A young guard who plays with a lot of energy. The lefty had some nice takes to the basket, including an excellent spin move in the lane. His float game was also very effective.
Vermitrius Jackson: 5’6″ Miller Career Academy: A quick point guard who did a good job of setting up teammates with some nice dimes. His on-ball defense was also excellent.
Jackson Chatman 5’9″ DuBourg: A solid young guard who can handle the ball and played without any fear as he drove hard into the lane on a number of occasions.
