The Rotation: St. John
The Woodchucks went a combined 68-7 the last three seasons with guys like Dalton Prouty and Kyler McGillis leading the way. St. John earned third last year, but now who will lead the program forward?
Must Be Replaced: Kyler McGillis, Dalton Prouty, Dylan Davis, Bryor Parisien, Zach Poitra
McGillis and Prouty scored a combined 45 of the team’s 75 points a year ago . Kyler was a 28-29 point per game guy while Dalton gave his team 17 points, 12 boards, and eight assists a contest. Dylan Davis and Bryor Parisien were both guys that spotted up to hit shots with Davis being one of the better passers on the team as well.
Returning Starters: Bradley Defender
Defender is the guy that St. John will look to as the “next go to player”. Defender was the third leading scorer a year ago giving his team a three a contest and about 3-4 scores a contest overall. Defender was also a good rebounder, a reliant defender, and one of the better foul shooters on the team.
Stepping into Bigger Roles: Adam Jollie, Zach Anderson, Dawson Schroeder
Austin Jollie was the sixth man as a sophomore so he shouldn’t have much problem sliding right into a much bigger role. Jollie was one of the better passers and defenders a year ago and showed some scoring ability hitting a high percentage of the 4-5 shots he took a game. Anderson also played off the bench as a sophomore while Schroeder, a senior, played a smaller amount of minutes but will be needed more this year.
Future. Tyreece Gunville
Expect some young players to step up and fill roles including Tyreece Gunville who is now a junior and likely ready to be a starter or be the sixth man.
