Recruiting Report: Jamie Bergens (2020)
Jamie Bergens, a 16-year-old point guard prospect from the Netherlands, was a standout at the DMVElite 80 earlier this month. Bergens is part of a new influx of talent at West Nottingham, where he will play a key role this season. He spoke more about this and also touched a bit on his recruitment during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: For those that haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
JB: “Just get everybody involved. I got the shot off the dribble. Just finding my teammates. That’s what I do.”
PH: Do you write with your left hand?
JB: “I write with my right hand, but when I play basketball I’m dominant with my left.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game?
JB: “I think my floater.”
PH: What are you working on?
JB: “Right now everything. Athleticism. That’s my major focus right now. Trying to get more athletic.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your game in recent months?
JB: “I think my shooting. I’ve really worked on my shooting.”
PH: What are your grades like?
JB: “My GPA is a 3.3.”
PH: Who is recruiting you?
JB: “I have an offer from Loyola (MD), and some other interest.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
JB: “I just really want to win.”
PH: What are your short and long-term goals?
JB: “Long term goals: to go high major division one. Short term: win a lot of games this year at West Nottingham, and put them on the map.”
PH: How is the team looking this year?
JB: “We’re looking pretty good. We’ve got about 8 transfers, so we’re hoping to make some noise.”
