Recruiting Report: Kody Schlenvogt (2019)
Rolla 6-foot-3, 190 pound forward Kody Schlenvogt spoke with PHD about who he will soon visit and what playing with the Phenom helped teach him.
“I learned a lot as a player throughout both school and AAU seasons,” Kody explained to Prep Hoops Dakotas.
“During school I learned how to become a better leader for my teammates. I was also granted the opportunity to go out of my comfort zone and find different ways to contribute to our team. I am a very confident passer and am always willing to get my teammates open looks. I also learned how to handle ball pressure a lot better, as I am often asked to help bring the ball up when needed.
“The 17U season taught me a lot. I learned to use my body to my advantage when posting up or guarding a bigger post players. I really like to play physical and get involved down low with the bigger players, which was definitely needed. I also improved on reading the opposing teams offense and was able to get set and take some charges.”
Now it’s time for the senior year and in this final run of high school basketball Kody wanted to become more skilled away from the cup and more versatile.
“I’ve been working on several different things this off-season, such as expanding my game to the three point line, becoming more of a threat in the mid-range, scoring in the post, and finishing around the rim,” Kody said.
Rolla will have a more veteran team this year bringing back many young players from a near .500 team.
“We should have a pretty experienced team coming back,” Kody said. “We return four of our starting five, and look to make a run in regionals. Our team has high standards for each other and will be pushing one another to succeed.”
Schlenvogt has consistently heard from Crown College, SMSU, and Lake Region State College and has a visit set to one of those schools.
“I have been talking with Lake Region quite a bit and plan on visiting campus in the near future.”
