MAC Summer Shootout (Underclassmen, Forwards)
Here is a look at some of the top underclassmen forwards from last weekend’s MAC Summer Shootout in Park Hills, MO;
Yaya Keita 6’9″ DeSmet ’21: An explosive young post player who continues to develop into an excellent Division I prospect. Along with his size, he plays to his strengths, which are his athleticism and high motor and that comes into play with his ability to rebound and block shots. He also had some impressive rim runs which resulted in impressive slam dunks.
Aladji Gassama 6’10” DeSmet ’21: A long and very capable post player who forms a very formidable young twin towers for the Spartans. He uses his length well when it comes to blocking shots and rebounding. He has a solid moves around the basket with good footwork and a nice turnaround jumper on the baseline.
Sofara Rasas 6’4″ St. Mary’s ’20: The versatile combo did an excellent job in helping his team to the championship game. He is a very effective slasher who scored many buckets on the drive or with good off ball cuts to the basket. He is also very good in the transition game.
Michael Skoff 6’4″ DeSmet ’20: A versatile combo forward who does a nice job of spacing the floor with his ability to shoot the 3-pointer. He is also a solid ball handler who can score off the dribble when defenders close out on him. He does a nice job of keeping the ball moving with his passing.
Marco Burse 6’0″ South Iron ’21: A very athletic and undersized young forward who plays much bigger than his actual size. He was constant motion on both ends of the court with his rebounding and shot blocking. He was able to block shots of some much bigger players.
