Recruiting Report: Drew Comer (2019)
One of the biggest names coming out of the high school season in the 2019 class is that of Greensburg (IN) guard Drew Comer. The 6’4 guard has been showing his scoring prowess and got his shot this Spring playing a bit with UA Grind 2019. Now, he’s locking in with a few offers as his Greensburg team is getting back together for June.
Comer, a tall shooter, is among the better small school shooters in this class. He’s really able to hit off the catch from distance and has also shown a little ability to get into the lane and create. He’s got good size and skill and for the local NAIA schools, he’s becoming more of a priority.
Bethel, IU-East, and Indiana Tech are the three schools that have offered so far. Comer just picked up the Indiana Tech offer after a visit there on May 15th. He’s really starting to draw in a little bit of interest at the DI level as well. Air Force, Furman, Navy, and Wofford have all reached out this Spring too.
Drew fits in as a guy who can play either wing position and present some scoring options. At the right level, he’s got enough skill to score at all three levels and could give you a high production player. Worst case scenario, he’s a high level shooter with size from the perimeter that can hit off the catch or the dribble.
It will be interesting to see how the summer finishes out as he will be playing with Indiana Elite Central 2019. He’s got the type of game that could really catch fire but he has yet to do that. If he does, July could be a really big month for him as colleges see how he looked during the high school season this past year.
