Recruiting Report: Chaz Hinds (2019)
The class of 2019 is deep but what it lacks are many good post prospects. Coming in at 90th overall in the class is Southport’s Chaz Hinds. The 6’7 power forward is running with Indiana Elite Force this summer and is having a good year thus far. He turned some heads in the high school season this past year and has been a hot commodity among all levels of colleges.
Hinds doesn’t have any offers yet, but with his play this summer, that should change by the end of his final AAU season. He has visited Bethel already and plans to take a few more visits elsewhere in the future. He lists Army, Holy Cross, Bethel, Malone, Depauw, Wabash, Minnesota State, Moorhead, Furman, Quincy University, and Ohio Dominican as being the top teams recruiting him right now.
Hinds is a guy that you can count on down low to get a basket or to stretch it out a bit and score around the perimeter. He is versatile and has the ability to take bigger guys to the rim and to post on smaller guards that are switched onto him. One big thing that Hinds needs to work on is adding strength. Once he does this he will be better suited to stay inside and go to work.
Hinds has been playing well on summer scene and he played really well this past school season. He had his ups and downs though as he was a bit inconsistent. When Hinds was on he was the best player on the floor but struggled if he wasn’t clicking. This AAU season he seems to be a little more reserved in what he tries to do and that will help him going forward. I expect a few offers for him by the time high school season rolls around.
