Recruiting Report: Andrew Owens (2019)
Carmel made a great run to Bankers Life Fieldhouse this past high school season where they fell just short to a red hot Warren Central team. A big part of that success is attributed to the seniors, a very solid 2018 class. But, Carmel had some juniors who are in store for a huge senior year. One of those 2019 players is Andrew Owens a big wing who has a knack for scoring the ball. Owens will be one of the main cogs in a lineup that features Butler commit John Michael-Mulloy.
Owens has been receiving a ton of interest this summer running with Indy Heat Red 2019 as schools from every level have shown him interest. Schools such as Air Force, Indiana Weslyan, Marian, Huntington University, Bethel College, Hillsdale, and Grace have shown interest in him and Indiana Tech has extended him an offer. Owens plans to possibly take visits to Hillsdale, IWU, Huntington, and Air Force.
Coaches will love what they get with Owens. He’s a tall wing who can shoot the ball and take his man off the dribble to the rim. He’s an athletic 6’5 guy who can guard every position on the floor at times. Owens is a guy who will give effort on every play and is a hustler on both ends. His handling ability has improved over the past year and he is now able to create in traffic much better. He is a good defender with length that can disrupt passing lanes.
Look for Owens to have a huge senior year as he will be one of the key contributors. They will be solid again this year as they return key players from last year’s runner up team and with Owens making strides with his game, he could be a break out player for them. Expect a ton of college coaches to be out watching Owens as he is gearing up for his senior year.
