Sectional: Henryville vs. Paoli
This game got started with a bang. Henryville went back and forth with three-point shooting hitting a combined six of them in the first few minutes. Kade Badger hit three of them early on and four in the first quarter combined.
The story of the game was Henryville’s Nick Walker who started out really slow. Only had two points but was 0/4 from the field to being. He then went on a tear and took over the third and fourth quarters and pushed Henryville out to double digits.
Paoli was locked in early and even came out of the second half strong but part of the reason Nick Walker was able to do his damage was because of Paoli’s inability to defend in transition. Even off dead ball out-of-bounds, Henryville was running and Paoli couldn’t stay with them. At the end, Henryville was just too locked in and never really showed cracks all game, a game that was a lot more competitive than the score showed. Henryville’s 73-60 win over Paoli will move them on to Friday night back here at Paoli.
Best Offensive Player: Nick Walker (Henryville)
This was a great performance from Walker, especially considering he was ice cold to start the game. He finished with 21 points, 10 rebound, and 6 assists and did it shooting 6/12 from the field. Take out that initial 0/4 start and he finished basically the final three quarter shooting 6/8 from the field. Add in his rebounding and the transition ability he has and this was one of the better performances you will see. Not too mention, his passing ability is truly underrated.
Best Defensive Player: Thomas Green (Henryville)
Could have went with Walker here as well but Green was really influential early. He was tough down low and really was a force on the low block, not really allowing any easy buckets or second chance points. He was tough and his 13 points and 8 rebounds was a big contribution. He’s a load, not easily moved but mobile enough to really cause problems and Paoli didn’t have enough size to really do much down there.
Biggest Surprise: Paoli Freshman Brett Bosley
It wasn’t really a surprise that Bosley was good, we have seen him quite a few times now but this was a lot better of a viewing. He was physical at times, and at other times he was smooth with his athleticism. He’s going to be a really, really good player and it is not a stretch to say he’s one of the more productive wings I’ve seen at this age since I started covering high school hoops. His transition and development in the coming years will be fun to track.
