“After receiving the offer, my first thoughts on Minnesota was I know they play hard, I know of Jordan Murphy because he reps the same city I do, and I know how Coach Richard Pitino comes from a good coaching bloodline,” Kevin said.
Jordan Murphy is from William J. Brennan High in San Antonio, which is on the other side of San Antonio, but McCullar is well aware of the impact that Murphy has made on the Big Ten and Gopher basketball overall.
“He’s doing big things and holding it down,” McCullar said of Murphy. “I’m just hoping he’s gonna have a lot of success at the next level and represents!”
The Kevin McCullar offer list includes Baylor, Texas A&M, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Houston, and Texas Tech among others. Kevin likes all of the options he’s built up and he’s looking at every type of program that has shown him interest.
“All the schools that have offered me are showing a lot of interest right now,” Kevin told Prep Hoops. “I’m just looking for the right fit for me and where I can make an impact right away.
“I’m looking at all options, big cities, small cities, the size of a city is not a determining factor for me just looking for the right fit.”
Kevin took unofficial trips to Kansas State and Oklahoma last August and he’s had Bruce Weber in his gym this month to see him play.
Kevin is coming off of games where he had 25 points and six rebounds as well as 27 points in a recent win over Steele. Earlier in the month Kevin had a triple double of 15 points, 13 assists, and ten rebounds against Judson. Kevin is scoring about 18-19 a game playing with DaRun Clark who signed with Colorado-Colorado Springs.
“The season, it’s going pretty good for us, we’re 21-5 right now,” Kevin said.
