Recruiting Report: Kevin Legardy (2018)
Currently Nevada’s 14th-ranked 2018, Canyon Springs senior Kevin Lagardy has one Division I offer to his name, but has his sights set on more.
The 6-foot-1 combo-guard was offered by Idaho State recently, and plans to visit there soon, but says it’s high-major looks he hoping for, too.
“My recruiting process is going good. I just received an offer this year from Idaho State, and I have more colleges who are showing interest, like Montana State, Cal-Berkeley, Texas-Arlington, Eastern Illinois and Northern Colorado.”
Legardy says he’ll take an official visit to Pocatello, ID soon to visit Idaho State. And gave his current impressions of the school and the program.
“I’m going to visit there, I’m talking to them and getting it set up. They have good coaches, we have good relationships,” said Legardy. “It’s a good school and program, and they have everything I want to major in, and they’re all about academics first.”
But he’s not complacent with just the one low-major offer.
“It’s a good school, but I’m going to wait until the season is done to make a decision. I’m hoping to get a Pac 12 team, that’s where I’d like to go. That’s where I always dreamed about playing in college.”
Whatever program ends up with the heady floor-general, will get a lethal scorer, with the ability to get buckets from anywhere on the floor.
“I’d say that I’m a scorer for as a point guard. And I’m always working on my craft, my mid-range, 3-point shot and my dribbling. I like to play the game smart, and let the game come to me,” said Legardy.
“I’m just a gym-rant and I stay in the gym and just work on my craft, and that’s shooting the ball. The main two things I need to work on before college is my athleticism and lateral quickness”
So far this season, his Pioneers are off to a fast start at 10-1. Legardy is leading the way, averaging 27 points per game.
“Things are going great, my role is to lead the team in rebounding and scoring,” he said. “My coach is just letting me play my game and the offense goes through me. And I pick my teammates up and push them.”
