PHI Daily Dish: Moore scores 48 in a win
Yesterday’s Top Results:
There were a couple dozen games and most went as they should have. A few games were closer than expected but for the most part there weren’t really any upsets. Below, we recap the top results from yesterday.
Salem 49, Springs Valley 38
This was one of the games I was keeping an eye on to see if Springs Valley 4-0 start was legit. They played a tough Salem team and fell by 11. This shows us that Salem is for real now being 4-1 on the year with their only loss to undefeated Brownstown Central.
Randolph Southern 61, Monroe Central 55
Monroe Central had a good run to start to season and looked to improve to 4-0 but Randolph Southern put a foil in that plan. After losing four in a row Randolph finally got back into the win column. The schedule doesn’t get any easier for these two teams who play a rigorous schedule up until January.
Lawrence North 64, Indianapolis Manual 51
This game went about like I thought it would and shows us that Lawrence North is a team that can go in and take care of business against teams that are pretty good. Manual isn’t as good as last year but they aren’t a slouch either. A good win for LN as they have a tough stretch over the next month or so.
Yesterday’s Top Performers:
Jalen Moore (Cloverdale) – 48 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists
Darrell Reed (Hammond Clark) – 25 points, 17 rebounds
Jake Wadding (Chesterton) – 25 points
Today’s Top Games:
Only a few games of note on the schedule for tonight. One big game will be going on down south and a couple other teams are going to look to right their ship in this young season.
Washington vs. Wood Memorial
Washington is struggling to start the season and it won’t get any easier as they travel down to Wood Memorial, a high level 1A team in the state. Washington has a strong history of basketball in their program and they are looking to go steal a win from Wood Memorial tonight.
Clarksville vs. Crawford County
A year after making it to the state finals, Crawford County is 2-3 and looking to get a string of wins put together. All of their losses are by six points or less and Clarksville isn’t a bad team. I wouldn’t be surprised for this to go either way but Crawford County really needs to have this go in their favor.
Triton Central vs. Greenwood
Greenwood is heavily favored in this one but I wouldn’t be surprised if Triton Central keeps it closer than everyone thinks. They have a few pieces and are on a three-game win streak but Greenwood is solid this year. A game to keep an eye on.
New Haven vs. Fort Wayne Wayne
New Haven is looking pretty good so far this year at 2-1 with their only loss coming to FW Blackhawk. Wayne is a team that we aren’t sure what they are yet with Snider and a loss to a really good Jeffersonville team. A game that both teams really need to boost their confidence. Lots of talent on the floor in this one as well.
