Breakdown: This week is a weird one again as the end of the semester comes into play and Finals get going. So, don’t expect a ton of huge games for the week but there are plenty still to pay attention to. First up on Monday is Elkhart Christian vs. Mishawaka. With only a handful of games, this is one we see with Elkhart and Mishawka both off to great starts to the season and is a battle of two under-the-radar programs in the South Bend Area.
On Tuesday, look for Evansville Memorial and Evansville Bosse to play what could be the first of three potential meetings this season. Memorial is pretty good this year but Bosse is the team to beat in the Evansville area. They could meet again in the SIAC Tournament and again in Sectionals. Should be a great matchup.
For Wednesday, New Haven travels to Fort Wayne Wayne. Not a great start for New Haven but they are still pretty good and will battle a tough Wayne team that has a couple big wins already this year. Should be one with a lot of talent and athletes on the floor. Definitely worth a watch if you are in the Fort Wayne area on Wednesday.
Thursday brings with it a good Region matchup between Michigan City and East Chicago Central. Jaivion Reid has been really good for Michigan City this year and they have a ton of young talent. East Chicago is in a complete rebuild after the last 5+ years of great teams. Could be a changing of the guard type situation in this one.
Friday is one of the best games all season as Ben Davis plays Warren Central. Ben Davis has done nothing but dominate in the few games they have played this season and Warren looks the part as well even though they had to replace a ton of their team from last season. It will be a battle and could seriously go either way. Will give us a much better look at both programs heading into the holidays.
Saturday brings a nation of New Albany up to Carmel for a great game. Should be sold out with Carmel’s smaller gym but the atmosphere will be even more impressive. Carmel has taken a couple tough losses to Zionsville and Fishers but New Albany just lost to Floyd Central. Both teams are better than they played in those games and it will be interesting to see in Carmel will play a style very similar to how Floyd Central did just a few days ago. Can New Albany beat it this time around?
