Forum: New Albany vs. Fort Wayne North Evaluations
We are finishing up some evaluations from last week’s Forum Tip-Off Classic. These are our player breakdowns from the New Albany win over Fort Wayne North.
Lucas Kroft | 6’5 | SF | 2019 | Fort Wayne North (IN) | Kroft had a pretty good game as a combo wing, scoring from the inside and grabbing some big rebounds. He likes to shoot the ball pretty well but can be a bit streaky. However, he still is good off the bounce, can slash to the rim and finish with athleticism. Rebounds the ball really well at times and is aggressive enough to get some second chance points. He finished with 10 points on 4/10 shooting with 8 rebounds, 4 offensive. |
Brandan Johnson | 6’2 | SG | 2018 | Fort Wayne North (IN) | This was a decent game from Johnson but tough on the defensive end as he drew Romeo Langoford for quite a bit. He’s still a top-end defensive player but his offense is starting to come along. Where he has to reel himself back a bit is with his three-point shooting. Not really a guy that can hit jumpers but when he goes hard at the rim, he’s very effective. Picking his spots is huge but even in a middle of the road game he scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. |
Austin Boucher | 6’2 | SG | 2018 | Fort Wayne North (IN) | This was another great outing from Boucher, the only great one on the night for North. He was really effective as a shooter again and he was active, looking for shots in the second half. Coming off of screens or just off the dribble from distance is when he is at his best. The talent is showing through more now with his efficiency going up. North probably needed more from him in this one. He finished with 15 points on 5/10 shooting, 3/7 from deep and 6 rebounds. |
Keion Brooks Jr. | 6’7 | SF | 2019 | Fort Wayne North (IN) | Not a great game from Brooks who struggled to his shots. He was short-rimming all of his jumpers and looked a bit gassed in the second half. Very uncharacteristc for him. However, he did a great job in the second half trying to battle through and find better opportunities. While this was a really bad game for him in general, he did finish with 19 points on 6/18 shooting with 7 rebounds. Bad game but still producing. |
Romeo Langford | 6’5 | SG | 2018 | New Albany (IN) | This was all that is Langford in one complete game. Coming off a night where he didn’t play well, it looked like from the get-go that he was going to be huge. His jumper was really on and he was very active looking for his shots. Was a bit more of a perimeter player than a guy that would mix it up with drives but when you go 6/9 from three you can get away with that. He took advantage of a size mismatch defensively and it was pretty easy for him. Huge game finishing with 42 points on 14/22 shooting along with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. |
Sean East | 6’1 | PG | 2018 | New Albany (IN) | A really good game from East who is getting more consistent in his play. He’s shooting the ball well this year and the touch is more under-control than it was even a year ago. He didn’t drive the ball a ton, more playing on the perimeter. His ball handling looked improved and he’s now able to create more effectively from the perimeter. He finished with 20 points on 8/17 shooting, 4/9 from three with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. |
Julien Hunter | 6’4 | SF | 2020 | New Albany (IN) | Solid game for Hunter who is showing to be more of an interior player. He scored 10 points, all coming in the paint. However, he was 5/5 and he grabbed 7 rebounds, 2 offensive. While he is still growing and figuring out his game, it is nice to see more efficiency and aggressiveness when he has a play to make. This was a game that could show us his new direction in development. |
