Evaluations: Greenwood vs. Beech Grove
Tuesday night Greenwood came to town and the building was cold at Beech Grove as both teams struggled mightily from the floor. The score at the end of the first was 10-8 and the halftime score was 22-16 in favor of Beech Grove. Both teams struggled with turnovers through the first half but the second half became a bit cleaner. Both teams made play after play down the stretch with Greenwood laughing last as Isaiah Drew hit a corner 3 at the buzzer to win 51-48. View the stats here:
Beech Grove
Kenny Washington | 2018 | 6’2 SG
Washington has a knack for getting to the rim but tonight he really struggled to finish. All but one of his shots came from inside the paint and he was only 5/14 from the floor. Led his team with 15 points but just couldn’t really get into a rhythm. He’s quick and a really good passer though finishing with five assists and three steals.
Jordan Brickley | 2019 | 5’7 CG
Brickley is a really small guard who doesn’t play small on the defensive end. He is a lockdown defender and is the best on the team at not letting his man drive to the basket. Brickley isn’t going to score much and he isn’t going to do much other than provide some tough defense.
Jomar Seals | 2018 | 6’6 PF
Seals is an interesting player. He’s athletic but needs to rebound way more than he does for his height. He has the ability to stretch it out to the 3-point line but doesn’t do it often. He scored 10 points and was perfect from the floor. Only grabbed four rebounds though which is something he will have to improve.
Jalyn Curry | 2018 | 6’2 F
Curry is a really, really smart player. He struggled to finish at the rim but constantly made great cuts to get in position for the ball. He’s an undersized forward but plays really strong. Doesn’t turn the ball over much either as he didn’t have any in this one. A typical glue guy in high school basketball.
Greenwood
Eric Moenkhaus | 2018 | 6’3 SG
Moenkhaus is a tall, long shooter who can get to the rim off the dribble but mainly likes to pull-up and shoot. In this one, he was pretty much shut down. He struggled to get his shot to fall and had troubles with turnovers. Not his best game here as he was 3/9 from the floor.
Braydon Kincaid | 2018 | 6’2 PG
Kincaid was the most impressive player in the game to me. Finished with 19 points and got a ton of looks inside the paint. He is one of those sneaky athletic guys that will run the baseline for a lob if you’re not paying attention. He rebounds well and has super quick hands. A guy who will make a small school very happy at the next level.
Isaiah Drew | 2019 | 5’11 SG
Drew was shooting the ball really well in this one. He finished with 11 points and was 3/4 from beyond the arc. He wasn’t pressing and only turned the ball over one time. He’s a skinny guard who loves to shoot from the corners. He is a guy that Greenwood loves since he sits out in the corners for kick outs. He made the game winner as time expired which you can see below.
