This list, like the previous one, includes names that programs at the next level will want to pay attention to. So, without further ado, here is part two of our list of the Top Returning Players in the CHL.
Kyle Johnson 6’3 G/W- Madeira High School (Class of 2018)
One of the more athletic players in the Cincinnati area, Johnson teams up with Jack Cravaack to give the Mustangs one of the better two-man tandems in the conference. Kyle is an athletic guard/wing who is at his best in transition but excels operating around the free throw line as well. And once he gets to the basket he has no problem finishing over the defender as well.
Evan Prater 6’4 W/F- Wyoming High School (#17 Class of 2020)
Once back from Wyoming, Prater will provide much needed scoring punch to a Cowboys squad that will lack varsity experience. Evan had an outstanding summer for OBC, where his athleticism and high IQ were on full display. With Prater along with Joey Edmonds leading the way, Wyoming will again be one of the top D-II in Cincinnati.
Jalen Rose 6’5 F- Deer Park High School (Class of 2018)
Jalen is one of the main reason why the Wildcats are being talked about as the best D-III team in the city. The senior leader on this year’s team, Rose finished 4th in the CHL in scoring at just over 16ppg. With his ability to score at all three levels, look for Rose to take and make plenty of big shots for Coach Steve Gentry this season.
Colin Shaw 6’3 G- Indian Hills High School (#95 Class of 2018)
Colin was listed in our Best of the Best: Scorers article from September and for good reason. The leading returning scorer in the conference (18ppg 2016-17), Shaw can shoot the ball from the outside but also can drive and finish as the rim. His 141 free throw attempts last season were second in the conference according to the CHL website.
Charlie Tripp 6’1 G- Mariemont High School (#185 Class of 2018)
One of the more underrated players in the conference, Charlie is a combo guard with a diverse skill set. He can make plays off the dribble, is a solid passer and can knock down perimeter shots. The Warriors lost a lot of production to graduation, which means Tripp will have to up his scoring average of 12.7ppg from the 2016-17 season.
Mark Wise 6’3 G- Deer Park High School (#57 Class of 2020)
As a freshman Mark put up some of the best numbers in the conference averaging close to 15ppg while also averaging 7 assists and 6 boards per game. This summer saw Wise gain more confidence in his game along with a much better-looking jump shot. The sophomore should be one of the leading candidates for player of the year in the league this season.
