He played a big factor in his team’s dominance of the third quarter, and had some decent moments throughout the contest. One thing we noticed, aside from his length and skill with the ball, is that Hawkins is a very good athlete.
“I️ would say my ability to jump that has gotten a lot stronger,” Hawkins stated. “I’m an all-around player, but I could work on my defense.”
While we don’t expect him to play a massive role for an experienced Blue Devil team this season, Hawkins could be a significant role by the end of the season and certainly next.
“I move without the ball,” Hawkins said of an underrated quality he possesses. “A lot of times people don’t look at things like that, but I still move without the ball.”
One thing that Hawkins admittedly needs to work on is his jump shot. At around 6’0, he is very adept at getting into the lane. But in order to maximize his potential, the need for a consistent jumper is very evident.
What can a college coach interested in recruiting Hawkins expect from him at their program?
“I think I️ would bring intense defense, offense, and look to get my teammates involved.”
