Prospect Spotlight: Jamil Turner-Hall (2018)
A new face will be running the Howe offense this year as Jamil Turner-Hall transferred from Fishers. The 6′ senior guard has improved over the summer and is poised for a very strong year at Howe. Transferring from Fishers will allow Turner-Hall to run the offense more freely and showcase his ability.
One of the things that we have noticed improved for Turner-Hall is his court awareness and his defense. These two traits will help Howe out a lot by having a defender they can count on to lock down opposing guards and they will have a point guard who is able to distribute the ball as well.
Up to now, Turner-Hall does not have any offers but once coaches come out to watch Howe that will be sure to change as they watch the high powered offense and one of the favorites to win State in 2A. It will help that now he is able to lead an offense with multiple weapons at his disposal.
Last year at Fishers, he scored 12.7 points a game and handed out 3.8 assists a game and this year he should easily be able to surpass both of those numbers. As the season goes on we will see Turner-Hall get more comfortable with the offense that Howe runs and should also then see him excel at his position.
After a strong summer season, Turner-Hall will look to lead Howe and showcase his improvements to help his team win.
“I feel like I’m more of a complete player this year. Everything isn’t just all to the basket and people have to respect me for my three point shot and mid range. Also I feel like my defense has picked up and has been leading me to easier buckets. Then lastly, I want to be more of vocal point guard.”
Besides winning a state championship, he has goals that he wants to achieve himself. On that list includes increasing his points, rebounds, and assists. He also wants to be an Indiana All-Star which with a big year could very well happen.
After graduation, he wants to major in sports medicine or something that deals with broadcasting. Turner-Hall is looking for a program that wants him to play and is looking for the best fit and situation for him. With this in mind, as we get into the season he should find some of these players come calling.
