PHI Freshman Showcase: Team 2 Breakdown
With the PHI Freshman Showcase now complete, we are going through film and looking back at the games and players from the event. Now, we breakdown each team from the 3rd annual Showcase. Here are our notes on Team 2.
Luke Brown – 5’10 PG – Blackford (IN) – Brown is a thin guard who can play on the ball. He’s got a good balance of scoring and passing. Sets things up well and can really see the floor. He’s a good shooter who can hit well from behind the arc. Good off the catch and showed ability to create for his own shot.
Trevor Taylor – 6’1 SG – Edgewood (IN) – Taylor is a strong guard with great athleticism and a good frame. He has a really nice mid-range pullup. Long distance jumper needs a little consistency but his passing is really good. He sees the floor well and can get into the lane well. Great frame and base skill set with tons of room to grow.
Cameron Banks – 6’1 SG – Evansville Central (IN) – Banks is a tall guard with solid ball handling ability and a solid jumper. Uses the mid-range really well and has shown the ability to make shots from all three levels. Likely stays as an off-ball guard but should be capable of running the ball early on. Great size and frame that should grow.
Max Grimes – 6’2 SG – Lafayette Jeff (IN) – Grimes is a strong guard with some handles and athleticism. Loves to play fast and use his strong frame to overpower. Has to finish stronger at the rim but can easily get there. Can be a good defender right now with his toughness and rebounding ability.
Caleb Furst – 6’8 PF – Blackhawk Christian (IN) – Caleb is a standout PF prospect who has great athleticism and mobility for his age. Solid back to the basket game where he can create well with his left hand. Can face-up along with arc and in the mid-range and put the ball on the floor. Potential is through the roof and will be top player in class.
Sean Black – 5’7 PG – Warren Central (IN) – Black is a smaller lead guard who plays with a lot of speed and toughness. Plays with a little flair and is a solid passer. Good perimeter jumper to pair as well. Good left hand finish at the rim for a smaller guard. Body should grow and develop.
Armaan Hillman – 6’0 SG – Indianapolis Scecina (IN) – Hillman is a solid guard with good size and some strength. A little passive but when active he’s best in transition where he can slash and get to the rim. He plays very fast in transition and has a big enough frame he is hard to stop once at full speed.
Zane Burke – 6’2 SG – Churubusco (IN) – Jacob is a lefty wing with good size. Can play inside and does well as a rebounder in the post. Very mobile and showed the ability to come out on the wing and hedge. Has some upside as he develops more on the offensive side of the ball. Showed ability to score in the low post.
Jacob Moynihan – 6’4 SF – Seton Catholic (IN) – Sisley is a tall forward who is still growing. Face up style four man who can play inside and out. Good slasher with solid hands and rebounding ability. Has the ball handling ability to play as a wing scorer with some time. Can put it on the floor and drive a bit. High upside with ability to grow quickly.
