Recruiting Report: Ronnie DeGray III (2019)
Six-foot-6 forward Ronnie DeGray III is coming off an outstanding spring/summer with Billups Elite and now the Chaparral junior is hearing from several programs.
“Denver, Colorado, Northern Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas-Little Rock, Montana, and Kansas State,” said DeGray when asked about the programs talking to him regularly.
“I really don’t know what schools I want to visit and don’t know where I’m visiting yet but I’m going on some unofficial visits next week.”
DeGray enjoyed playing more on the perimeter with Billups Elite and the skills shined.
“I feel like my top highlights of my 16u season was transferring to the wing,” Ronnie said. “I feel like my game improved from becoming a better shooter and working on being a better ball handler.”
These are abilities that DeGray wants to improve even further.
“Being a better off the dribble shooter and being more comfortable driving right,” Ronnie said.
As a sophomore Ronnie scored 15.3 points per game while grabbing nearly six boards a contest plus nearly two steals and a block. His team was 15-10 last season and should improve greatly.
“We pretty much have the same team from last year, our goal this year is to get to the Final Four and if we make that the goal is a championship.”
DeGray patterns his game after the best player in the modern day game.
“I would say Lebron James,” Ronnie said of the player who influences him the most. “It’s because of how big he is but the fact that he can dribble, shoot and dish makes me just want to be like him some day. And some of my favorite hoopers are Lebron, Chauncey Billups, and Kevin Durant.”
