Rameybasketball Fall League (Playoff Standouts)
Prep Hoops Missouri was on the scene at the Rameybasketball League playoffs for first round action on Saturday afternoon. Here is a recap of those four games.
Game 1: Louisville 79 Missouri 76
MVP: Jason Montgomery (Louisville) – The 6’4″ 2019 forward of Marquette scored a game-high 34 points to lead all scorers. He was strong around the basket while stepping outside to knock down jumpers. He also got buckets on the drive.
Other Standouts:
Ryan Torrey (Missouri): The 5’10 2019 guard from Cardinal Ritter scored a team-high 29 points and kept his team close with his excellent perimeter shooting. He knocked down six 3-pointers during the game.
Cam’ron Fletcher (Louisville): The lanky 6’5″ 2020 guard from Vashon scored 16 points. He is a talented perimeter shooter with excellent athleticism.
Game 2: SLU 77 Duke 76
MVP: Malek Davis (SLU) – The 5’10 2019 guard from Cardinal Ritter scored a game-high 24 points, including the game-winning jumper with 15 seconds left to provide the final margin. Davis was on fire in the first half as he scored 20 points on a variety of twisting drives, floaters and pull up jumpers.
Other Standouts:
Will Shumpert (SLU) – The 6’5″ 2019 forward from CBC scored 20 points, including 14 in the second half. The bouncy Shumpert was force around the basket with his offensive rebounding and activity. He is quite explosive.
Darius Dorsey (Duke) – The 6’2″ 2019 guard scored a team-high 23 points, including 17 in the second half. He scored most of his points on straight drives to the basket as he was tough to contain off the dribble. His motor never stopped.
Kobe Smith (SLU) – The 6’4″ 2018 guard from Ritenour scored 16 points with most of them coming in the first half. He is versatile scorer with good size and the ability to get buckets on jumpers and drives to the rim.
Hasani Spann (Duke) – The 5’8″ 2021 guard from MICDS was impressive on offense with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. The youngest player in the game play with a lot of confidence and did not shy away from the competitiveness of a close playoff game.
Game 3: UNC 63 Michigan State 58
MVP: Mario McKinney (UNC) – The 6’1″ 2019 guard from Vashon scored a game-high 14 points in the low scoring game. He scored his buckets attacking the rim and in transition on Saturday.
Other Standouts:
Isaiah Alexander 6’1″ (UNC) – The 2021 guard from Whitfield was the unsung player of this game with his perimeter shooting. Alexander made four of his five 3-pointers as he displayed a nice stroke from long distance.
Sam Richardson (Michigan State) – The 6’5″ 2020 forward from Hancock led his team with nine points. He is a skilled combo forward who played with a lot of activity around the basket.
Game 4: Illinois 51 Kansas State 46
MVP: Jordan Nesbit (Illinois) – The 6’5″ 2020 guard from Lutheran North scored a game-high 13 points in the victory. He was aggressive on the drive and he rebounded the ball at a high rate.
Other Standouts:
R.J.Wright 6’1″ (Kansas State) – The 2018 guard from Webster Groves scored a team-high 16 points. Normally a good 3-point shooter, Wright scored all of his points without making a trey as he displayed some resourcefulness on the offensive end.
