Prospect Watch: Courtland Sol (2019)
Class of 2019 guard Courtland Sol of St. Louis Christian Academy was one of the breakout players at the recent Rameybasketball Fall League.
The 6’2″ combo guard is a slick ball handler with the ability to get in the lane and create offense for himself and his teammates with his good court vision.
What Sol also accomplished during the fall was his ability to get buckets on a consistent basis from the perimeter. During one playoff game, Sol scored 33 points and made seven pointers in a game.
“I’ve been really working on my game on a consistent basis since the beginning of the AAU season in the summer,” Sol said. “My 3-point shooting has improved a lot as well as my ability to create space off the dribble.”
Sol spent the past summer playing for the MoKan Select 16U team, where he served as the team’s primary ball handler, distributor and scoring threat. He has started to receive some collegiate interest from schools such as Louisiana Tech, Upper Iowa, Brown, Peen, Missouri Valley and Columbia College.
“Playing for MoKan this summer helped me work more on the point guard part of my game,” Sol said. “I worked on getting my teammates involved and being a more vocal leader.”
Sol spent his sophomore season playing at tiny Tower Grove Christian in St. Louis. He will continue his career at St. Louis Christian Academy, where he will be one of the key players for a talented team that will play against an excellent schedule of teams from around the country.
“My goal is to be productive in anyway my team and coach needs,” he said. “I want us to win a lot of games and hopefully draw more interest from colleges.”
