Prospect Spotlight: Bryant Nalley (2018)
Some of the best players in Indiana come from the southern part of the state, many of those guys you may have not heard of. Bryant Nalley, a 6’5 forward from Pike Central is one of those guys. A very versatile forward who can play the wing and handle the ball is always needed at the college level and Nalley also brings strength that many wings don’t have.
Nalley is a very high academic student and that has given him some interest from DII all the way down to NAIA schools. A lot of DIII schools have checked in with Nalley and we expect that to grow as the high school season gets going.
He has visited Earlham and Illinois Wesleyan with visits scheduled for Bethel and Wabash during his fall break. Nalley also says he may pursue a visit at Hanover soon.
This past summer Nalley ran with Pocket City and performed very well on the circuit. Pocket City had a great year and Nalley got much better in certain areas of his game.
“My summer went great,” Nalley said. “We won a lot of games while having a good time with the team and parents. I got to get in the gym and get shots up. I feel I improved my shooting the most. The coaches opened the gym and gave us the opportunity to improve and I feel like I made the most of it.”
This year Nalley will certainly have to step up his game for Pike Central especially since he is the only returning player to have averaged in double-digits. Nalley is ready for the challenge of leading his team and is excited to see where he can take them this year. Besides leading his team, Nalley also has some personal goals he would like to accomplish this year.
“I am most excited to see how I can lead our team and see what we can do,” Nalley said. “We lost a lot of seniors last year so I am going to have to step up. I am definitely excited just to get out there and play. Some of my goals for this season would be trying to play my best every game and then trying to find the right school that I would fit in at. I plan to keep myself healthy, eat healthy and get plenty of rest when I am not studying or playing ball.”
If Nalley keeps performing like he has been this will be a great year for him both on the basketball front and the recruiting front. He already has interest from numerous schools and if he keeps it up, more schools will come knocking.
“I am looking for a school that is competitive,” Nalley said. “I want a school that can help me develop into a well rounded and successful person. They will not only focus on basketball skills but they also will take the classroom seriously. The school I want will want the best for the athlete and student.”
