Prep Hoops Idaho Interview: Columbia’s Jake Poulton
In the latest installment of the Prep Hoops Idaho Interview series, Columbia’s Jake Poulton shared his thoughts on the season ahead and let us in on what makes the 2019 prospect tick. Poulton took home 5A SIC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors a season ago, and will be a top player in the conference yet again in this, his junior year.

What was your basketball related highlight this summer?
“Playing on the circuit in Washington, California, and Las Vegas with Select Basketball.”
What is your favorite opposing gym to play in?
“Probably Capital High School.”
Who is the best player you have played against?
“DeAndre Jones (Borah High School), I remember playing him freshman year and he was crazy good. He did whatever his team needed him to do.”
Who is your favorite player to play against?
“I love playing against Javen Woodall who plays for Meridian High School. We grew up putting countless hours in the gym together and playing him is always a battle.”
Which is your favorite social media?
“I don’t really have a favorite.”
What has been your favorite part of the recruiting process?
“Having the opportunity to play and compete in front of coaches and get to hear feedback from them to better my game.”
What has been your least favorite part of the recruiting process?
“It’s challenging to take into account the school as an overall, not just basketball, and what will be best for my future.”
High School or Grassroots Circuit?
“Playing on the Circuit has given me an opportunity to play against the best, it’s made me a better player.”
Who is your favorite NBA Player?
“James Harden, he’s so crafty and skilled.”
What are your personal goals for the upcoming season?
“Lead my team to a .500 or better record this season doing whatever I have to do, and to be on First Team All-Conference”
