Matt Balanc commits to Quinnipiac
The argument for Springbrook/Mid Atlantic Select 2018 guard Matt Balanc being the country’s biggest stock booster is a strong one. The rising senior came into this spring with zero offers on the table and ended the summer with 13. Today, Balanc made the decision to commit to Quinnipiac after cutting his list down to the Bobcats, Florida Gulf Coast and Rhode Island three weeks ago.
“I decided to commit to Quinnipiac because it felt like a second home when I went on my official visit there,” Balanc told PrepHoops. “I like the coaching staff. I like the players. I like how they play. They fit my playing style because they play fast-paced and do a lot of pick-and-roll sets. The facilities are really nice. It was where I could see myself playing for the next four years.”
Quinnipiac’s consistent contact with Balanc is what separated them from the other 12 other programs that offered him.
While they love Balanc’s athleticism and versatility, they weren’t shy to give him some things to focus on heading into his senior season to prepare himself for Division I basketball.
“They want me to gain some weight and get a lot stronger,” the 6’3 guard claimed. “Just a continuation of developing my shooting and defense as well.”
Balanc is must-see when he is out in the open floor. His Russell Westbrook-esque finishes never leave you disappointed, but he knows fine tuning the other areas of his game is what will make him successful not only for his senior season at Springbrook, but throughout his future career at Quinnipiac.
James Lee, director of Mid Atlantic Select, spoke with PrepHoops about his guard’s decision and his overall development over the past couple of years.
