Conference Preview: Suburban White 4-6
Below are the predictions for the bottom half of the Suburban Blue Conference.
Basketball is almost here which is very exciting, but before the season, let’s go ahead and break down the Suburban White Conference. We will list the teams in the projected order below.
4) Coming in at fourth, but could be a sleeper and find itself in one of the top spots, are the up and coming Fort Osage Indians. Fort Osage started out slow last year, but started to figure it out near the end of the season. They had a pretty young team and should have a few players to help pave the way for a solid year. Senior Isaiah Wilson will be one of those guys. He can do it all. He has great size, plays solid defense, can score, and is a great passer for the big man. Senior Dez Grizwold isn’t the biggest guy on the court, but he plays with a ton of energy and is a great scorer. Junior Ty Baker will take on a bigger role this year and will also look to be one of those go to guys. With his size, expect a great year from the junior wing.
5) William Chrisman jumps up a spot after finishing at the bottom spot a year ago. Chrisman was a very young team a year ago, and look for them to pull off some big conference victories. They could very easily end up in the upper half. Look for Senior Daniel Carson to have a pretty big year using his size and frame down in the post. It’s going to take a lot for others to push him around. Junior Kelvyn Mason will be running the show at point, but he will also have a sophomore guard Isaiah Jackson and junior guard Dawson Herl to help him out in the backcourt. Junior Bryan Cox will be called upon to help Carson in the paint.
6) Ruskin loses quite a bit from last year’s team will be looking for some young players to step up and become leaders. Look for Senior Point Guard Tyrell Rock to take on a pretty big role this year. He will have to help in all aspects, but scoring and finding open teammates will be a large part of his game. Others will definitely need to step up like senior point guard Derionte Roby, senior shooting guard Javon Moore, and possibly senior guard Kalan Hooks. Arthur Williams is a lengthy junior guard that might be able to help on both sides of the ball. Ruskin looks to possibly be in a rebuilding stage.
