Conference Preview: Suburban White 1-3
Below are the predictions for the top half of the Suburban White Conference.
Continued from yesterday’s bottom half predictions. Below are the teams we think will finish in the top 3.
1) Taking the top spot in the conference for the 2017-2018 season is Oak Park. Oak Park will be returning the player of the year Ochai Agbaji, and look for him to have another big year. Ochai is a big-time division 1 player that will probably see a lot of Box in 1 defense. They will also bring back guard Kaden Evans and Jhaidyn Richardson who can play on the perimeter or down on the post. Look for senior Jacky Shariff to be a solid attribute to Oak Park’s backcourt with his size and court vision.
2) Coming in at a close second will be the talented North Kansas City team. Only really losing Deng Ding, Northtown should do well and will contend for the top spot. TJ Babikir is a solid player who loves to score and does it well. Deng Bol is a very athletic guard who can knock it down from deep, but gets to rim quite easily. Junior Yonathon Elful has great footwork and should do well down in the post. Lance Rogers is solid on the defensive side, but also a hustler. Eric Slack will provide great depth as well.
3) In third, we have Staley. They lost 2 of their better players in Bedard and Hoth from last year’s team, but they should be fine. Staley might struggle with size this year, but should make up for it with their speed. Their backcourt will be one of the better backcourts in the conference features Nick Rumbo and Mark Robinson. Expect these two to play tough defense and to take on large scoring roles. Junior Forward Cameron Wilson will have to be one of the big guys on the team. Senior wing Bennett Holloway will also be a big asset with his longer frame. This will be a tough year for Staley, but expect these four to be the big hitters on the team.
