Conference Preview: Suburban Blue 1-3
Below are the predictions for the top half of the Suburban Blue Conference.
Continued from yesterday’s bottom half predictions. Below are the teams we think will finish in the top 3.
1) Coming in at the #1 spot is the are the defending champions, the Grandview Bulldogs. Grandview will pretty much be loaded with Jordan Lathon coming back after initially moving to Florida to finish up his high school career at IMG Academy. Alongside Lathon will be sharp shooters Mason Taylor (recently committed to Air Force) and DeAndre Sorrells who is getting a lot of interest after solid summer with MoKan Elite. Cartez Crook-Jones will be the main big returning from last year, but look Eze Kamto to make his presence known in the post as well. Junior Liashwuon Boston and sophomore Reggie Morris Jr are a couple others that might see some time as well. Grandview should have plenty of depth and will be a tough team to beat.
2) Taking the 2nd spot, we have Raytown South. Ray South should have a solid year and might have a shot at the top spot, but that will require their absolute best games when playing Grandview. Junior Sevon Witt will be the go to guy and he should dominate the post. Recently signing with Washburn, expect Witt to have a big year. Jamar Madge and Deon Mckinney are both guards with some solid size and he should help Witt quite a bit with the scoring and leadership aspect. Expect 6’7” Tyren Clark to help Witt in the post with scoring and rebounding.
3) Although Kearney lost 3 solid players a year ago, we have them coming in at #3. They should still be able to make quite a bit of noise in the conference with senior big man Jake Hoffman battling in the paint. Brady Monks will be a wing player for the most part, but will probably have to play as a big on some nights. Kearney should have one of the better backcourts in the conference with Senior Guard Jake Huet, Junior Eli Irsik, and Junior Gavin Frizzel.
