Clay Gayman commits to Abilene Christian
Class of 2018 combo forward Clay Gayman of Nevada has given a verbal commitment to Abilene Christian.
The 6’6″ Gayman made his official announcement on his Twitter account on Saturday just after making his official visit to the Division I school in Texas. Gayman, the No. 16 ranked player in the Prep Hoops Missouri Class of 2018 rankings, also had offers from schools such as Pittsburg State, Missouri Southern, Lindenwood and others.
Gayman is a versatile player with a strong post game inside and the ability to step out and shoot 3-pointers with good accuracy. He is also one of the most explosive players around with his ability to finish around the rim with thunderous dunks. He has been a consistent double-double machine throughout his career in high school and on the summer grassroots circuit.
As a junior, Gayman averaged 24.4 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and 1.6 steals while shooting 79 percent from the free throw line. He led Nevada to a berth in the Class 4 district championship game. He was named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 4 All-State Team. Gayman was also selected the Joplin Globe Player of the Year in 2017. During the summer, Gayman played for the KC Pacers Blue 17U team.
Gayman becomes the second player from Missouri to commit to Abilene Christian in the span of a week. Hogan Prep point guard Damien Daniels also gave a pledge to Abilene Christian last week.
