Carlos Sandifer Recruiting Update (2018)
Carlos Sandifer (Houston) is looking for a college home. When current options fail to inspire, recruits can only do what they do best. Work to improve. Improve and prove the overlookers are overlooking.
Carlos Sandifer averaged about 17 ppg and 6 apg with the Jackson Tigers over the summer.
“We probably lost like two games per tournament,” said Carlos Sandifer.
The Tigers tend to be the best grouping of Mississippi-based stars, but the Mississippi Express are attempting to overtake them. Sandifer elected to play for the Tigers as the two consistently dominant Memphis-based 17u AAU programs (Team Penny, Team Thad) already featured elite point guards in Alex Lomax and Tyler Harris respectively.
“My favorite guy is Mark Freeman (M33M),” said Carlos Sandifer. “Me, Mark Freeman, Tyler Harris, ALo. We are the most elite guards in the city. I wasn’t really on the stage with TeamThad and M33M.”
And Sandifer is correct. The EYBL teams tend to get plenty of looks. Adidas typically draws a nice crowd. Sandifer and backcourt-mate Taeylr Gatlin competed with the Jackson Tigers and really thrived, but they didn’t get enough eyeballs on them.
Recruiting
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior floor general drew some recruiting interest into August.
“I have been talking to Murray State, Northern Arizona, Liberty,” said Carlos Sandifer. “UALR. I got an offer from Clarion College (D1 JuCO).”
NAIA member Voorhees College (South Carolina) offered too.
High School
The 5-foot-11 point guard projects as a LM-LM+ college player. He can score in bunches and easily get into the heart of the defense.
Carlos Sandifer lettered at White Station freshman year and then started as a Bartlett HS sophomore. For his junior and senior seasons he will have played for Houston High School.
Who will line up with Carlos in the Houston backcourt?
Jake Hughes and Mason Miller (2021 star) are certain to start. Nick Terrence will seeing heavy minutes. Zander Yates transferred in. Yates ran with Miller on M33M 15u and M33M 16u.
“He and Mason are like best friends,” said Sandifer. “We got pretty good bigs. We have like four or five bigs.”
It will be an exciting senior season for Sandifer and crew. His recruitments are expected to climb as Carlos continues to grind to prove.
“I know I can shoot the ball real well,’ said Sandifer. “I would say my defense is a strong suit. I am really a pass-first guard. I like to see my players involved.”
Which college coaches will get involved?
