The Basketball Interview with Mason Larson
Six foot-7 forward Mason Larson of Langford High talked with PHD today about his life in basketball.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
ML: My favorite part about game days is just the excitement you can feel throughout the whole school. Langford has a good reputation as always being a good team in the last decade or so making the community involvement really great.
What makes your crowd unique?
ML: Well being from such a small school and town our crowd is unique because it’s mostly parents and because most nights there are more people in the crowd than there is in the whole town. The amount of people at every state tournament we are in is by the far the craziest thing I’ve seen.
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota basketball and why?
ML: In high school games the toughest opponent I’ve ever faced would have to be Seth Friesz or tiegen priebe. Hope I spelt the names right but they were both tough.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
ML: Biggest rival is for sure Warner. Every game we play is huge. I’ll remember those games forever.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
ML: My favorite basketball player in the world is Demar DeroZan. His desire and confidence is amazing.
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
ML: I love Kobe’s shoes. Make me feel quick and smooth.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
ML: Aberdeen civic arena
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
ML: Madison square garden
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
ML: All the older guys at our school for sure try to lead by example and path the way for the young guys.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
ML: I’ve gotten a lot of advice but just believing in myself is proudly the biggest thing for me.
Who is your basketball influence?
ML: My basketball influence would have to be my late grandpa Clark. Never missed a game since I started playing and I know he never will. Love you grandpa.
