The Basketball Interview with Hunter Burchill
Shooting guard Hunter Burchill of Valley City is ready for his senior year. He’s been waiting a long time to get back in a Valley City uniform fully healthy.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
HB: My favorite part of game day is probably dressing up and listening to music with my teammates in the locker room then running out to our band playing
What makes your crowd unique?
HB: What makes our fans unique is probably all the support we get from our parents and the other adults we always get a lot of people to show up.
What is a memorable thing at your school that you will always remember?
HB: My most memorable moment is probably playing our first game my sophomore year and winning against Fargo north we played really good and had a lot of fans
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota basketball and why?
HB: I think one of the toughest players to play against in North Dakota is probably playing against Jake Kava, he’s a tough strong player and can beat you inside and out.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
HB: I think my biggest rival would be West Fargo. I always like to battle it out with them because he is one of the best players in North Dakota so I always like to try have a good game against him.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
HB: My favorite basketball player in the world would have to be Kobe Bryant I loved him growing up but now since I’m a big Laker fan I’m really liking Lonzo Ball.
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
HB: My favorite gear would have to be Nike I love all Nike things and I’m pretty loyal to them.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
HB: My favorite basketball venue I’ve played in is the HAC our home court I love playing at home.
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
HB: A court I would love to play on would be the Staples Center. I would love to just go there and watch a basketball game.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
HB: We have a pretty good relationship with the younger kids we always have open gyms and invite them to come and sometimes even go up and down with them.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
HB: My best coaching I have ever gotten is probably from my first coach Troy Miller he coached me in traveling basketball and helped me get to where I am today and also Luke has helped me out a lot.
Who is your basketball influence?
HB: My basketball influence is me probably I think I motivate and push myself to be the best player I can possibly be.
