The 6’5″, 196-pounder averaged 13.5 points per game, shooting 40 percent from the field.
No offers have come yet for Talocka but he has drawn interest from the likes of Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Gettsyburg College, Swarthmore, Franklin and Marshall and Washington & Lee.
Starting his basketball life at age 9, Talocka pointed to his biggest strengths as his quick release and strong court vision to find an open man.
Talocka is weight and agility training four times a week while shooting and practicing every day. He says he’s working on his lateral movement and speed.
“At St. Thomas Aquinas HS, I am committed to my academics with a 4.4 GPA,” Talocka told Prep Hoops Florida. “I’m a member of the National Honor Society. I also volunteer coaching middle school basketball. During my senior year, I am taking all honors classes. This season at STA, I aim to be a positive influence on the court while being a leading scorer with strong defense.”
He plans on visiting several colleges this September in the Northeast.
Over the last five years, Talocka has played for the Broward County Cougars.
“During the NCAA live period, I traveled to PA, CA, NJ, Orlando and Las Vegas. During this past season, I strengthened my defense through intense practice and playing full court man,” he said. “I also concentrated on shooting beyond the college 3-point line which proved very successful. My ability to knock down shots caught the attention of college coaches. The coaches I have been talking to are from high-level academic institutions.”
Talocka called basketball his passion.
“I’m committed to putting in the time and work to become a stronger and better player. I look forward to our upcoming season at STA and the next step college ball.”
This is a really smart and focused player. Talocka is superb in the classroom and on the court, he is a true leader for St. Thomas Aquinas. A program that generates national attention for football it seems as if Talocka can put his basketball team on the map a bit this season with a solid senior year.
