Six-foot-7 forward Cade Potter has garnered Mountain West and West Coast Conference interest.unds for the Lancers as a sophomore, while playing one of the most difficult high school schedules among all Southern California prep teams.
The next step in Potter’s game, according to the man himself, is to continue to develop his ball handling skills to become a complete wing and hit the weight room harder than ever before.
“I’ve been working on my handle a lot,” he told Prep Hoops So-Cal. “I’ve been in the weight room to get stronger and more explosive and that’s really helped me attack the basket off the dribble.
“I’m trying to gain 10 more pounds before season starts,” he added. “I want my face-up game in the post and out to 15 feet to be really good.”
Potter took a somewhat unorthodox approach to upping his burst and athleticism on the basketball court by finding his way onto a different court of sorts.
“Over the summer I played beach volleyball,” Potter said. “I played volleyball growing up and my sister was a really good player, and that’s really helped with my lateral quickness and athleticism.”
Potter reports college interest from schools in the Mountain West and West Coast Conferences and is setting his sights a level higher heading into his junior year at OLu.
He also has an idea of what types of attributes he’s seeking in a potential college.
“I’ve been recruited by Utah State really hard,” he noted. “I’m hoping to get some Pac 12 schools this season. I want to find a school where I’ll be able to play game and have the opportunity to come in and get early minutes.
