Freshman Showcase – Top Shooters and Slashers
Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase
Top Shooters
Zane Burke – 6’2” | G | Churubusco
Zane Burke continually got his shot off under duress at the showcase on Saturday. He was one of the taller guards in attendance and used that to his advantage. Burke wasn’t rushed into any jumpers and calmly stepped into the long ball. He showed off his range on occasion stepping back a little from the line. Zane will continue to do so throughout his career at Churubusco.
Cole Richmond – 6’0” | G | Dekalb
Cole Richmond stood out as a corner specialist this past weekend. He found himself with opportunities time and time again form the deep corner off a drive and kick or baseline drift pass. Richmond rotated well on the back side of the defense to find openings and got his jumper off quick. Cole has a smooth stroke shot with height and rotation that made him the beneficiary of some soft bounces.
Silas Bauer – 6’4” | F | Loogootee
Silas Bauer got hot in a few of the games at the showcase. He got in rhythm early and was able to get space for his jumper because of his defenders worrying about the drive. Silas ran the floor well in transition and was able to rattle off a few long balls in a row in the final game. Bauer will have continued success from deep with his length and position on the floor as he is able to keep defenders off balance.
Top Slashers
Douglas Konleczny – 6’4” | W | South Bend Saint Joseph
Douglas Konleczny was one of the under-the-radar performers at the showcase who looked great on his way to the basket. He was able to get into driving lanes off the bounce and created movement off the ball that lead to easy looks in the paint. Konleczny has a long, wiry frame but has the finishing ability to play with the best of them in the lane. Intriguing prospect with his guard skill set and nice size on the wing.
Chrishawn Christmas – 6’3” | W | Gary West
Chrishawn Christmas was one of the best athletes that attended the showcase at Fishers High School. He played at and above the rim throughout the day both in the half court and in transition. Christmas was a straight-line guy off the wing and looked to attack before he looked for a jumper. His athleticism was coupled with his full body strength that was on display with his finishing ability.
Chris Mantis – 6’2” | G | Lowell
Chris Mantis was another prospect that slid through the showcase quietly but effectively. Mantis was listed at 6’2” but his length on the perimeter bothered defenders when he got within fifteen feet of the basket. He finished high above the opposition and had a package of finishing moves. Chris created most of his drives off the bounce but was also able to get to the rim with pick and roll action.
