2018 Summer Offers Across Virginia (Part 2)
Now that we’ve predicted some of the top prospects in the state, it’s time to take a look at those who boosted their stocks in July and August and came away with new offers. Here’s part two of our “Summer Offers Across Virginia” series, featuring five guys who pulled new offers during the live period. Stay tuned for more moving forward.
Zach Pfaffenberger | 6’8” PF | Episcopal School/Team BBC
July/August Offers: Wagner, Mount St. Mary’s, Air Force
Cut List: Wagner, Mount St, Mary’s, Binghamton, Sacred Heart, New Hampshire
Pfaffenberger started to turn the corner early in the summer, and coaches took notice as he was up to eight offers before he cut his list. He must have done his research, because the schools he’s chosen may not have the biggest names, but they have a reputation of using rebounding bigs like him and putting them in situations to succeed. His ability to face up other bigs, hit the glass on both ends and run the floor bolds well for him moving forward, and he’s only scratching the surface with how good he’ll be at the next level.
Jonathan Norfleet | 6’3” PG | Salem (VB)/Team Loaded 757
July/August Offers: Robert Morris, UMES
The Salem point guard shined at Hoop Group Elite Camp and Hoop Group Team camp with Team Loaded 757, and it turned into two more offers from the northeast bringing him to eight total offers. He continued his stellar play at the Adidas Select Richmond event, going toe-for-toe with Princeton commit and nationally ranked point guard Jaelin Llewellyn of Team Loaded VA. Consistency has been an issue at times, but the talent is there and he has some toughness to him when he comes to compete. A big time athlete with a quick first step, good vision and playmaking ability, he’s a guy that can match up with anyone on a good day and keep his team in games against more talented opponents, a quality everyone looks for in a college point guard.
Cle’Von Greene | 6’2” G | Williamsburg Christian/Team Loaded 757
July/August Offers: Radford
Being that he only stands about 6’2” and is stuck between being a point guard and an off guard doesn’t help him in a recruitment standpoint, but you won’t find anyone that will play harder than Greene. He’s a dynamic athlete, has improved his shot making ability over the past couple of years and he’s a big time rebounder for his size. He can be erratic at times, but you have to let him play through it because his all out style means he’ll make mistakes but get them back for you throughout the course of the game. He’s a guy who thrives in transition, can get his own shot and he’s a good defender as well. He pulled in a Big South offer from Radford, his fifth to go along with Norfolk State, Central Connecticut State, Longwood and JMU.
Jordan Gibson | 6’4” WF | Stonewall Jackson/Higher Level
July/August Offers: Presbyterian College, UVA Wise, Shepherd
Gibson started to play extremely well in May, and that stellar play carried over to July where he picked up multiple scholarship offers, including his first division one offer from Presbyterian College. The 6’4” lefty has lit it up throughout the summer, and school looking for a knock down shooter on the wing have to keep him in mind moving forward. His recruitment really picked up when he showed he’s not just a one trick pony either. He’s improved his upper body strength, allowing him to attack the basket and use his athleticism to finish above the rim and it’s also allowing him to become a better defender. He’s likely to see more division two and low major schools get involved moving forward.
Dimitri Georgiadis | 6’8” PF | Benedictine/Team Richmond Garner Road
July/August Offers: VMI, Binghamton
Georgiadis didn’t see his recruitment take off as much because of AAU season as it did from other events and tournaments he played in. By all accounts he had a great showing at VMI Elite camp, where he left with an offer, and he also showed out in international play as he averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game for Romania in the FIBA U18 European Championships. His good size, defensive mindset and soft touch around the rim should see more coaches coming to see him throughout the season as the need for big men increase.
