Team Scout: SEMO Storm 17U
The SEMO Storm 17U team enjoyed an excellent three-year run of success on the grassroots circuit. They were not a shoe-sponsored team, but they proved to be a thorn in the side to many of those teams with its teamwork and chemistry. The Storm were were a group of guys who were also close friends as well as teammates and that bond translated on to the court in the form of great shooting, ball movement and team harmony.
Here is a look at some of the key individuals from the SEMO Storm.
Brendan Hardy 6’3″ Farmington: A big guard who is not only a excellent 3-point shooter, but a very good overall scorer as well. He passes and moves without the basketball and shoots with very good range, plus he can also get buckets off the dribble. He is the leading returning scorer for a very good Farmington High team.
Hayden Sprenkel 6’2″ North County: A 3-point shooter deluxe with range out to the parking lot. He displayed the ability to knock down shots from close to 30 feet and run off several of them in succession when he is really hot. He is already the career leading scorer at North County with one more year left to play.
Pete Lake 6’7″ Jackson: Perhaps the top collegiate prospect of this group, Lake has the size, athletic ability and skill level to attract some Division I interest. He can shoot the ball from distance, but he also loves to attack the basket and can finish at the rim as he did several times with resounding slam dunks.
Desmond Morris 6’3″ Jackson: A very smooth combo guard with good size and the ability to shoot the ball. Morris is a fine ball handler and passer who will also get to the open spot and knock down 3-pointers. He has good length to be a factor on the defensive end. He is also a standout in soccer as well.
Gavin Harris 6’2″ Jackson: A savvy point guard who plays with a lot of poise and toughness when handling the ball against a lot of pressure. Like the rest of this teammates, he is capable of shooting the deep ball, but he can also get to the basket off the dribble. He also has a flair for making clutch shots, as he displayed many times during the high school season and the summer.
Dawson Dohogne 6’4″ Cape Notre Dame: One of the top low-post scoring threats in the SEMO region, Dohogne may be undersized, but he knows how to maneuver in the post and get buckets. He has excellent footwork, good hands and knows how to score inside at a variety of angles.
Cameron Hester 6’7″ Jackson: On a team full of perimeter shooters, Hester provides the size and inside force. His game is strictly meat and potatoes, but it is very effective. He does a great job sealing his man in the post and he has the ability to score around the rim with both hands. He will also finish with force around the basket with slam dunks in traffic.
