Team Scout: Brad Beal Elite 15U
The Brad Beal Elite 15U was a talented group of Class of 2020 players from St. Louis and parts of Illinois that competed well during the grassroots season on the Nike circuit. They concluded the summer by winning the championship of the Jayhawk Summer Finale against a talented group of teams. Here is a look at some of the key players from the Brad Beal Elite 15U team.
Lamontay Daugherty 6’6″ DuQuoin (IL): A very athletic and active forward who has already received a Division I offer from nearby Southern Illinois University. He is an excellent athlete who plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor. He is a strong rebounder who loves to go on rim runs to finish in transition. He can score off the dribble against opposing bigs.
Luke Kasubke 6’5″ Chaminade: A talented wing player who played with both the 15U and 16U teams during the summer. He has ideal size and he can shoot the ball from 3-point range. He also does a nice job of attacking the basket and he does it with good athleticism.
Jayce Catchings 6’2″ Wentzville Liberty: A long and lanky wing player who really enjoyed some excellent moments shooting the basketball during the summer. He has a nice high-arching jumper in which he lets fly with a lot of confidence. He made several of them from well beyond the 3-point line.
Davion Bradford 6’10” CBC: The young big split time playing 15U and 16U ball during the summer. He loomed as an imposing figure on the defensive end with his size and shot blocking ability. He was physical and very active around the basket. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he showcased a few very nice moves. Stay tuned.
Terrell Rush 5’11” Trinity: The young guard was an energizer bunny on the offensive end. He constantly put pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to attack the basket with probing drives and pull up jumpers. He was also very good in the transition game. Instant offense.
Dylan Branson 6’3′ Chaminade: A big, strong point guard who was injured and missed much of the action in July. He is a good ball handler who is very strong with the ball and can deliver nice passes. He can also knock down 3-pointers off the catch and off the dribble.
Devion Harris 6’6″ Parkway Central: A young post player who is in the process of developing a nice skill set around the basket. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor in the paint or from the mid to high post area. He has excellent length in which he puts to use as a shot blocker.
King Waller 6’2″ Mehlville: A powerfully built shooting guard who came off the bench to provide energy and great intensity on the defensive end. He really impacted games when he entered the action with his physical strength and high motor. It really rubbed off on his teammates on the court.
Phillip Russell 5’9″ Vashon: A quick, slashing young point guard who brings a lot of speed to the game. He operates well in the transition game and he has an excellent floater in the lane that looked to be one of his big go-to shots. He made several during key points of games.
Tahj Patterson 5’10” Lutheran North: A young point guard who has the ability to shoot the basketball well from 3-point range. He is used to playing off the ball, but he spent a lot of time at point guard and making decisions this summer.
Harrison Vickers 6’3″ Chaminade: A versatile lefty with good size and length who likes to handle the ball. He has shifty moves and can be very effective around the basket.
