Fargo Davies was one of the top teams in North Dakota last year. If the Eagles are going to remain among the state’s elite, Parker Stenseth will have to play a big part.
Stenseth, a 6-foot-5 forward, spent the grassroots season playing with ECI Select, playing against some of the top teams and players all over the midwest.
“This was my first summer playing AAU and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Stenseth said. “It was a lot of fun and I made a bunch of memories.”
Stenseth said the speed of the game during AAU is significantly faster than high school and playing in that kind of environment helped him improve a great deal.
“There’s no substitute for playing against top level competition,” said Stenseth. “Once you’ve adjusted to the pace of play it makes the game seem to slow down. I think playing AAU helped my mental approach to the game most. The speed any physicality allowed me to push my killer instinct to another level.”
Stenseth is a solid mid-range shooter and can score efficiently around the rim. He’s a solid interior defender as well, and is improving as an overall perimeter defender. There’s a lot to like about his game and he’s got the tools to play at the next level.
“I’d love to play ball in college but I’m still early in the process of looking at schools,” said Stenseth. “Academics are also pretty important for me, so that will also be a determining factor when it comes to choosing my future school.”
