Recruiting Report: Joe Pistorius (2018)
West Fargo went 21-6 a year ago and Joe Pistorius was a key piece every step of the way. The 6-foot-3 Pistorius scored 20 a game and is looking for more as a senior.
“My biggest senior goal is to win a state championship,” Joe told PHD. “I feel like we had two great opportunities the last two years and we didn’t finish the job I think this year we can finally do it.”
Returning along with Pistorius is 6-foto-3 guard Abdi Sufi and 6-foot-5 center Luke Lennon. Luke led the team in rebounding last year while Sufi was the second leading scorer.
“I think we should have a strong team this year with a lot of senior leadership and young talent,” Joe said.
Pistorius show 45 percent from the floor last year, made 80 percent of his foul shots, and a third of his threes. Joe wants to expand his scoring chances this winter.
“I am going to try to get better at ball handling and mid range shots.”
Pistorius also played with ECI once again helping the team to a strong 22-14 record against a strong level of competition.
“I grew on defense and I will always remember the memories I made with my friends the past two years in AAU,” Joe said.
“I’ve learned that if everyone plays together and you defend like crazy as a team you can beat any team in AAU even if they are much bigger and more talented.”
Pistorius is ready for a big senior year and then after that it’s time to think future. “I would like to play basketball in college but right now I don’t have any offers,” Joe said.
That should change with another fantastic winter season.
