Recruiting Report: Chaz Birchfield (2018)
Chaz Birchfield – 6’5” | W/F | Men of the Family | Hamilton Southeastern
Chaz Birchfield is a long, athletic wing that has had success getting to the basket as a slasher. He played with Men of the Family this past spring and summer and is a senior at Hamilton Southeastern in Indianapolis.
“It was good playing with Men of the Family. It helped my confidence with the ball and also being a leader on and off the court.” Birchfield is known for being an impact player around the basket with his athleticism and hands but has been working on his game away from the basket as well.
Chaz gets out in the open floor and is effective attacking the rim aggressively. He has started expanding his offensive repertoire with a mid-range jumper as well. He attacked the rim and rebounded at a high rate this summer. His winning attitude and leadership are two of the intangibles that he brings to the table.
As he continues to work more away from the basket, he is focusing on developing those skills to make himself successful. “Few things I’m working on are shooting off the dribble and ball handling.”
Birchfield holds an offer from Kent State University and has visited with Drexel University, La Salle University and Saint Joseph’s University. He’s also heard from the United States Naval Academy, Bellarmine University, and Davenport University.
“I want to study something related to business and I want to start my own training business.” Chaz has a passion for the game and wants to help others achieve their highest potential.
Chaz is ready to outwork everyone and is focused on helping his teammates improve so they can grow as a team. He will be a player to keep an eye on this season for the Royals as they look to put together a solid season in 2017-2018. Birchfield will be an integral piece to their success with his contributions on the boards, his defensive leadership, and his versatility on the floor.
