Recruiting Report: Brian Long (2018)
Finding talented players late in the process is always a fun angle from the scouting side of things and a lot of college coaches seem to enjoy it as well. Not too often does a name just come out of the blue. However, one player that might have that affect a bit this Fall and Winter could be Greenfield-Central (IN) forward Brian Long.
The 6’7 post player is a little bit of a raw player right now but he has the size, toughness, and possible upside to draw a lot of colleges in late in the process. Long wasn’t able to play much during this AAU season due to an injury but he’s coming around to full health and ready to prepare for the upcoming high school season.
Long has a big frame with tons of strength already and he will be able to post up and while a little mechanical, he’s shown production scoring deep in the paint. He’s also a decent rebounder who can cover his area and will compete for 50/50 balls just outside of his area. He’s got upside as he gets more of a run this year.
Some schools have already reached out to the Greenfield prospect. Schools like Rose-Hulman, Franklin College, Marian, and DePauw. Long said he would likely look into some Engineering programs for the next level. The process is still early for Brian but he could be a late flyer to check in on as the season approaches.
