Prospect Spotlight: Brad Hailey (2018)
Stanberry 2018 forward Brad Hailey is putting together a strong summer with KC Premiere.
At 6’6, Hailey is a versatile player that can handle the ball, shoot from the outside, pass and defend multiple positions.
Hailey says he has grown as a player this summer competing for KC Premiere after a strong junior season at Stanberry.
“I grew as a player mostly in the head,” he said. “I learned how to lead younger players. Before I had great seniors and I never had to be the man. This year I learned.
“Summer AAU started strong and I think we accomplished a lot. I hope I can have a coach that believes in me enough to let me play for them.”
Stanberry has high expectations this season and Hailey says he looks forward to playing rival North Andrew.
“They are our rivals and great competitors,” he said. “I also have some friends on that team.”
Hailey says his family have had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“My biggest influence would be my brother and mother,” he said. “My mom has been there every second and took me to all of my tournaments. My brother Dan and I played when we were really young. We were so competitive that we made each other better. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”
A fan of LeBron James, Hailey says his favorite team to watch is the San Antonio Spurs.
“I hate selfishness and they are the opposite,” he said. “They have the one more pass mind set. One guy might have a good open shot but after one more pass his teammate has a great shot.”
Although he currently does not hold any offers, Hailey has heard from several college programs including Princeton, North Central Missouri CC, Nebraska Kearney and Concordia University.
