Notebook: Indiana Wesleyan Elite Camp Pt. 1
MARION, IN | This weekend, we were able to get out and get back in the gym for the first time since the AAU season ended. On Saturday, we were at Indiana Wesleyan for their annual Elite Camp. It was filled with prospects moving up the board and largely in that 2019 class, we saw a lot of talent. Here is our first of two recaps from the day.
Turner Royal – 5’11 PG – 2020 – Bloomfield (IN)
Really liked the confidence I saw in Turner. He looked poised in each area of the camp and was attacking the rim more than before. He’s improved all around in the last year and it shows. While he’s still on the smaller side right now, he’s playing like an upperclassmen at this stage.
Drew Lutz – 5’11 PG – 2019 – Penn (IN)
Lutz really showed off his shooting ability at the camp as he was one of the best all day going through drills. He’s grown a bit and has continued that toughness we liked as a younger player. He’s doing more and more on offense while still being that go-to ball handler on the ball.
Nate Soltis – 6’5 SF – 2019 – Cardinal Ritter (IN)
Nate continues to trend up as he has really shown the ability to impact the game on the boards and prove he has one of the best motors in the class. He wasn’t as crisp as he was during July but he was still making plays on both ends of the floor where he just outworked everyone else.
Dustin Hudak – 6’2 SG – 2019 – Lowell (IN)
Dustin was a guy we saw during July for the first time and walked away with some interest. Tall guard with a lean frame and has the handles to impact on the offensive end. He had a couple plays showing the projection of his offensive abilities. If he can continue to add strength and tap into those, he could be a player from the Region to watch for next year.
Cole Brady – 6’8 C – 2019 – Carmel (IN)
Cole has been a guy that stepped up his game since the spring and he continued to show some more steps at the camp. He’s a little more fluid with his athleticism and is moving pretty well. Skill as a post scorer is starting to increase as well. Needs time but he’s still trending in the right direction heading into a big high school season.
