Jordan Lathon is headed to IMG Academy
Grandview High standout Jordan Lathon is transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL for his senior year.
A four-star recruit who has committed to Northwestern, the 6’4″ Lathon made the announcement on his Twitter account on Tuesday night. He is ranked at the No. 4 player in the state in the latest Prep Hoops Missouri Class of 2018 rankings.
As a junior at Grandview, Lathon averaged 16.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.3 steals in leading the Bulldogs to a 24-5 record and a berth in the Class 4 state quarterfinals.
Grandview’s chances to making a run to the Final Four of the state tournament in 2018 took a big hit with Lathon’s departure, but the Bulldogs will still field a talented team for the upcoming season. Grandview will be paced by 6’4″ 2018 guard Mason Taylor, 5’10” 2019 guard Dre Sorrells, 6’4″ 2018 forward Mike Nweke and 6’4 2018 Kansas football recruit Cartez Crook-Jones.
Lathon becomes the second high-profile player from the state of Missouri to transfer to Florida prep academy to continue his career. Karrington Davis, a 6’6″ 2018 wing player from Chaminade College Prep, will be attending national prep school powerhouse Montverde Academy for his senior season. Davis averaged 20 points a game in helping lead the Red Devils to the Final Four of the Class 5 state tournament in 2017.
