Jontay Porter Makes it Official: Mizzou in ’18
Former Tolton High standout Jontay Porter will join the Missouri Tigers for the 2017-18 season.
The 6’11” Porter made the official announcement on his twitter account on Wednesday night that he will reclassify into the Class of 2017 and join the Tigers for the upcoming season. The addition of Porter completes an already loaded recruiting class that is led by his brother, Michael Porter, Jr., the top ranked recruit in 2017.
The Porter brothers won back-to-back state championships, first at Father Tolton in 2016 and then at Nathan Hale in Seattle, WA in 2017.
For the first time in his high school career, Jontay went at it alone without Michael and he became one of the top players in the Nike EYBL while playing for MoKan Elite during the summer. Porter averaged 18.1 points, 12.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.6 blocks and shot 43 percent from 3-point range in leading MoKan Elite to an 11-5 record and a berth in the Nike Peach Jam.
