Jayhawk Summer Finale (Class of 2020 Shooting Guards/Wings)
Here is a look at some of the top Missouri Class of 2020 shooting guards/wings from last weekend’s Jayhawk Summer Finale in Overland Park, KS.
Caleb Love 6’3″ Brad Beal Elite 16U: The talented shooting guard played the entire summer for the BBE 16U team. He provided instant offense whenever he entered the game with his skills and athletic ability.He can get in the lane and make jumpers and step out and knock down 3-pointers. He also displayed some explosive ability with a number of transition dunks. He has a high upside.
Jayce Catchings 6’2″ Brad Beal Elite: A young shooting guard with good length and excellent range from 3-point territory. Catchings’ big breakout game came in the 15U semifinals when he scored 19 points and knocked down five 3-pointers in BBE’s 60-69 victory over Team Thad. Some of those shots came from well beyond the 3-point line.
Zarian Navy 6’2″ Team Rush: Talented young guard who can really shoot the basketball and make plays for his team. He’s capable of scoring a bunch of points in a hurry with his scoring ability. He also excels in the transition game.
Luke Kasubke 6’5″ Brad Beal Elite: A long, rangy wing player who spent time with both the 15U and 16U teams during the weekend. He is a high-energy player who was always around the ball. He showcased good 3-point range and a willingness to attack the basket with aggressive drives. He will also get to the offensive boards with his size and athleticism.
Adam Sommer 6’3″ Gateway: A solid all-around guard who is capable of playing all three perimeter positions with his size and versatility. He has good size and the ability to score on drives, jumpers and 3-pointers. He also displayed some excellent passing skills throughout the tournament.
Ben Palacios 6’3″ KC Elite: A versatile wing player with good size and the ability to make his teammates better. He can take the point guard role and facilitate, plus he operates on the wing with his ability to knock down jumpers and score in the paint with his size. He doesn’t mind being aggressive when going to the basket.
Sam Richardson 6’4″ Gateway: Versatile wing player who was equally capable of playing inside the lane or on the perimeter. He operated on the high post well with buckets and did an excellent job of the offensive boards. He is also a solid ball handler who can get to the basket and hit jumpers off the dribble.
Matthew Harris 6’2″ NdaGym: A strong-bodied shooting guard who displayed some excellent offensive ability during the weekend. He was physical enough to get to the basket and score through contact, yet he also showcased a nice stroke from 3-point range, which made him a tough cover.
Terrell Rush 5’11” Brad Beal Elite: A smaller shooting guard who helped BBE to the 15U championship with his aggressive offensive mentality. He constantly put the pressure of the opposing defense with his attacking off the dribble, either in the half court offense or in transition. He scored at the rim and had a nice stop and pop jumper from 15 feet.
Jadon Gilpon 6’2″ Yanders Law: This young man displayed some nice offensive ability in the two games I watched him. He could handle the ball well enough to create space and get shots off against good defense. He could get to the basket and finish in the lane pretty well.
Tysen Brennan 6’3″ KC Elite: A talented young wing player with good length and excellent shooting ability. He shoots the ball well off the catch and he has fluid movement, whether he is operating off the dribble and working without the basketball to get himself open.
